Funny but in reality very sad. A two tier system is fine but you can’t not have universal health for all. You just can’t.

  2. Lily says:

I really admire your energy in fighting this cause, when you have good reason not to. The world sure needs fighters!

  3. Steph says:

    Baino and Lily – Thanks!

I’m not in any way opposed to private health care but I do strongly object when it’s given priority over the public health service (PHS). We need to get our PHS working efficiently and the only way that’ll happen is if it’s funded by a universal form of health insurance. Let everyone pay (according to their means) into a social insurance fund which will ensure good healthcare for all. Then, and only then, let those who wish to be pampered by private healthcare, pay extra!

Harney’s plan to encourage for-profit medicine in an effort to bail out the PHS, has gone totally pear-shaped with the recession. It’s estimated that by the end of the year, 100,000+ people will have dropped their private health insurance through financial difficulties. This will obviously further increase the pressure on the already over-stretched PHS. It’s time to put an end to the present political agenda in Irish healthcare and start afresh!

When I saw the title I thought there was a new bug going round. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Stay well.

Doesn’t Mary look well? – it’s great to hear her finally tell it like it really is. No more glossing over the real cost to the tax payer and the gains to your friends, the developers. Well done!

By the way Mary, I love what you’ve done with your facial hair!!

  6. Steph says:

Grannymar – You got it in one. It’s a swipe at the HSE’s present swine flu advert down South.

    Ann – I knew you’d enjoy that! ๐Ÿ˜€

    Here’s the real thing… sorry!

  7. annb says:

Holy God! Scary Mary! Do you think she’s on drugs?

  8. Steph says:

    ROFL ๐Ÿ˜†

Definitely a bad hair day anyhow!

It’s so bloody painful to listen to her. And I’ll never be proud of our health service as long as the PD ideology is allowed to continue. It’s time to start afresh.
